
Born out of a love for science and design Hlaska combines elements of nature, science, architecture and engineering to create luxury wallets and bags. Each design is carefully thought out, with special attention paid to its inspirations, its functionality, and its beauty. Using only the best materials, including Italian leather, European fabrics and custom hardware, Hlaska products go through countless revisions to ensure the final product meets our strict standards for resilience, functionality, and aesthetics. Staying true to the original vision of founder Anthony Mazzei, each new Hlaska product brings with it a new way of appreciating both science and luxury.
1994 - Anthony designs his first bag in his college dorm room.
1995 - First in a series of bags called, "Mazzei Packs" launched for bicyclists.
2002 - Velocity Project is launched to design and create bags for other manufacturers.
2004 - Velocity Project closes, while Anthony and Chad move forward with Hlaska.
2005 - Hlaska is born with 7,000 newly designed wallets set to be sold at the Pool Tradeshow in Las Vegas.
2006 - Wallets become sold at 100 retailers, but later dropped from retailers to have entire line rebuilt to the luxury market.
2007 - Hlaska products become exclusively available at official Hlaska stores.
2008 - First flagship store in San Francisco, CA opens on Sept. 2008.
2009 - Expands to a men's lifestyle with clothing and accessories. San Jose and Palo Alto, CA stores open in late 2009.
2011 - Expansion continues with more stores opening in LA, New York, and Austin.

The word Hlaska is a blend of the states of Hawaii and Alaska. Hlaska is our 51st state. It‘s a state of mind that is decidedly American yet a true frontier. It’s an idea that conveys hard work, risk, and the payoff from each.
