Introducing the new Hlaska Slim-Fit Windbreaker. Made from the finest Japanese Nylon, this water-resistant jacket is the perfect throw-on for boating trips, hiking and biking excursions or that foggy San Francisco summer night.

Q&A with the Hlaska Design Team: Minimal Collection

Q: What was the inspiration behind the Minimal collection?
A: Simple lines with perfect proportions. We kept it clean and let the shape speak for itself.

Q: How did you choose the colors?
A: It’s a palette that’s both fun and sophisticated. There’s a color for all your moods.

Q: What are some smart details customers will appreciate?
A: [Shown in diagram]
1. Unlined to reduce weight and to show off the beauty of the leather.
2. Inside pockets float behind the straps and are in the top seam so we keep the bags light.
3. Contrast zipper tape so you can easily find the inside pocket.
4. Triple reinforced straps/handles with a stitch at the top edge, vertical stitch and a rivet.

Q: Tell us about the leather and the dying process.
A: The leather is top-of-the-line Italian leather. It is vegetable dyed, which is a technique that dyes the leather all the way through (not just on the surface) using vegetable pigment. This gives our bags rich colors that is also eco-friendly. The leather is untreated (no top finish), which gives it an amazingly buttery hand feel and drapey look.

Q: Which color do you think will go best with this summer’s fashion?
A: Navy is a good complement to the jewel tones that are in and the ivory is a modern riff on classic-summer white. It’s summer’s version of the black bag.

The women’s line is back! We’ve spent almost a year in development to get all the details right, and here it is–finally! We know the market is packed with plenty of ordinary. So, we’ve crafted our women’s line to show the true Hlaska style of practical and yet sexy. Smart and also subtle.

We particularly sweated over the Miner’s Wife trenchcoat. How does a California brand put a spin on a classic trench shape? The answer is with our custom hand-quilted liner, adjustable waist fit and pop colors. Finished with metal hardware and brushed cotton.
